Gamified Cohousing Lappeenranta is the former Kanavansu school now turned into a Gamified Cohousing.
Our principles are derived from the work of Architectural Democracy.
There was a great need for the construction of the school in Kanavansuu in 1909 because the workers of the nearby sawmill had a total of about 450 children. The owners of the sawmill also decided to participate in the construction of the school. The sawmill donated the plot of land and logs, so construction was able to start rather quickly. The building is the work of architect Yrjö Sadeniemi.
The housing fair in 1999 caused the area to be filled with guests, and the event was commemorated by a plaque telling about the housing fair, which is attached to the wall of the building. In 2023 the city of Lappeenranta decided to sell the closed down school, and Gamified Cohousing Oy won the auction with the best proposal.
We have several apartments and office spaces available, as well as event spaces. Contact us for further details.
