Gamified Cohousing Lalitpur is our first project in Nepal and one step in applying the Gamified Cohousing model to the Himalayan urban context.
The project is based in an abandoned four-storey building in Lalitpur and is connected at ground level with World Music School Nepal activities.
Our aim is to transform the building into a living cultural hub: a place where housing, learning, music, repair, local enterprise and community life can support each other.
The project responds to a challenge shared by many cities: usable buildings are left empty or underused while communities face rising housing costs, loss of cultural spaces, demolition pressure and weakening forms of local knowledge.
Instead of treating old buildings as obsolete, Gamified Cohousing works with what already exists. We see adaptive reuse as a practical climate strategy, a cultural strategy and a social strategy.
In Lalitpur, this means exploring how traditional patterns of shared space, intergenerational knowledge, craftsmanship, music, food and neighbourhood exchange can be connected with contemporary needs: safer housing, seismic awareness, circular renovation, community governance and micro-economies.
